REGULATIONS REGARDING THE STUDENTS

Art. 5

Students must be in class with the teacher for the first lesson of the day five minutes before the second bell which marks the beginning of the lesson.
It is possible to enter the school building fifteen minutes before lessons begin.
When the weather is bad it is possible to enter the building earlier and wait in the main hall.

Art. 6

Moderately late arrivals (up to five minutes), as long as they are not repeated, can be directly justified by the teacher on duty for the first hour who will note the late entry on the class register.
In the case of repeated moderate late entries (more than twice in a term) or more serious lateness students may not enter the classroom without authorization from the school Principal.

Art. 7

Late entry or early exit will be authorized by the Principal annually for those students living far from the school on presentation of a written request. The names of such students will be written in the class register with the precise time of entrance and/or exit at the beginning of the school year. 

Art. 8

Late entry to school is permitted when it is due to emergencies or difficulties regarding means of transport. In such cases admission and notation on the class register will be the responsibility of the teacher on duty in the classroom.

Art. 9

Students who have been absent from school are readmitted on presentation of written justification.
In exceptional cases students may be readmitted without justification provided this is presented within the day following readmission. Otherwise the student will not be readmitted unless authorization has been given by the Principal.
Repeated omission to present justification may lead to disciplinary measures.

Art. 10

The teacher on duty during the first hour of lessons will note the justifications presented by students, both over and under age, in a specific column in the class register. Should any detail of the justification not be clear the student will be asked to submit this justification to the Principal.

Art. 11

Students who have been absent for five or more consecutive days will be readmitted to school on presentation of a doctor's certificate.
In such cases the number of days of absence is calculated taking Sundays and public holidays into account and also school holidays should the absence begin from the final day before holidays.

Art. 12

Requests for justification will be valid if written on the personal booklet in the students possession.
Authorizations are valid only if issued in writing.

Art. 13

Collective absences (strikes - translators note) must be certified by a statement from the student's family.
In the case of collective absences the Principal may consider it necessary to call a meeting with students' families or the class council to evaluate the situation and the measures, if any, to be taken.

Art. 14

In the case of unauthorized assemblies, strikes or participation in protest marches, should the number of students in the classroom be below 20% of the total number, the Principal may decide to group the students, to a maximum of 20, with one or more teachers. Should such grouping not take place,  class activity will continue as normal.

Art. 15

Students may ask to leave school early only for serious justifiable reasons which will be evaluated individually by the Principal.

Art. 16

The school considers it a duty to inform families, using the most appropriate means (including telephone), of prolonged or repeated absences; frequent late arrivals or early exits. 

Art. 17

To enter the classrooms and leave the school building students must use the stairs and corridors set down in the safety regulations of the school, it is forbidden to use the emergency stairs.
All movements within the school building must proceed in a manner that ensures the safety of the students themselves and of others, the maximum respect must be shown for the school environment, furnishings and equipment.

Art. 18

Students must leave the classroom during lessons only when absolutely necessary. This rule must be understood not as a restriction but as being necessary for the progress of normal school activity.
the teacher may not authorize more than one student to leave the classroom at a time unless explicitly authorized by the Principal.
The non-teaching staff on duty is expected to notify the teacher or the Principal if the presence of several students in the corridors or their prolonged loitering outside the classroom causes disturbance.

Art. 19

While teachers pass from one class to another the students must remain in their classroom. The teacher will note the names of the students absent at the beginning of the lesson and immediately notify the Principal.

Art. 20

Should the teacher leave the classroom momentarily the students may not leave the classroom nor do anything to disturb other classes.

Art. 21

During the break teachers and non-teaching staff will be on duty to ensure that no damage is done to persons within the institute or to school property.

Art. 22

Hygiene and tidiness within the school building, notwithstanding regulations regarding specific duties of cleaning and maintenance, is the collective responsibility of the entire school community.

Art. 23

At the end of lessons the teacher authorizes the students to leave the classroom. This must proceed in an orderly fashion without students waiting on the stairs or in the corridors.

Art. 24

The students may organize themselves into groups and committees to propose complementary activities as outlined in circolare ministeriale n. 654 dated 17 October '96, provided they have made prior agreement with the Principal. Such requests must be made in writing to the Principal specifying the objectives, mode of operation, names of participants and persons in charge of the initiatives.
Inside the school building the students may avail of a specific space to put notices and documents regarding their activities, these must be in keeping with the activities and objectives of the school.

Art. 25

The students may hold one school assembly and one class assembly per month, limited by the first hour of the day's lessons and the second of two hours as laid down in circolare ministeriale 312 dated 27/12/ 79.
A school assembly can be called by the Student Committee or 10% of the students.
If authorized by the School Council the assembly may invite experts to participate, the names, qualifications, general details of these experts and the issues they will speak about must be given to the Council.
The assembly is organized by the students themselves and they are directly responsible for its management.
The Principal guarantees the presence of a representative at the student assembly.
The students may draw up their own assembly regulation which may become an integral part of this regulation once it has been presented to the Principal. 

Art. 26

A Class assembly requires at least five days notice to the Principal and must have the authorization of the class coordinator and the teachers of the hours in question.
Assemblies may not beheld during the last month of lessons.

Art. 27

Students who damage school property must pay compensation for that damage in accordance with circolare ministeriale 177 dated 4 July '75.
If the person/persons responsible for damage within a class cannot be identified, the Principal, after consulting the School Council, may decide to divide the cost of damage between all the member of the class.
